Judges 13:12-14 (NLT) – So Manoah asked him, “When your words come true, what kind of rules should govern the boy’s life and work?” 13 The angel of the Lord replied, “Be sure your wife follows the instructions I gave her. 14 She must not eat grapes or raisins, drink wine or any other alcoholic drink, or eat any forbidden food.”
Manoah’s response when he finally got to talk to the angel that had spoken already to his wife is instructive. Up to this point, he had just heard what his wife said the angel said. Pay attention to his opening statement in verse 12, “When your words come true…”
Talk to God in faith about that which He has placed on your heart. They that come to God must first believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently pursue Him. Don’t allow doubt and unbelief to cloud your vision.
Note also the request he makes, “what kind of rules should govern the boy’s life and work?” When God speaks to us initially about His purpose for us, don’t stop there. Inquire further of the Lord for specific instructions concerning what He has placed on your heart and/or has given you as a passion. There may be much detail you’ll need to get from Him that is critical to your success.
Have you talked to God lately about your assignment? Take a moment today to do so and wait for His response.
