Hebrews 12:12c – …who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross.
The word of God here sets joy out as the enablement and motivation for Christ enduring the cross. As a result, we can see the power and potential of joy in our own lives. What determines the efficacy of this is the reason for our working or serving. Christ always served to please the Father; that was the ultimate reward for Him. Get a vision of your reward. Ask yourself why are you working and serving? If you are doing so for reasons not built on the foundation of pleasing God, you may find yourself unable versus enabled.
Where God guides He provides. The Bible says when our ways please God, He will make even our enemies to be at peace with us. The joy of the Lord is indeed our strength; happiness can come and go. Happiness is dependent on happenings. James 1:2 assures us that joy will produce the needed result even in trials. Galatians 5:22-23 further tells us that joy is one of the fruit of the Spirit against such there is no superior force or principle. Nothing can stop the production of the fruit of the Spirit in your life.
Maybe you have drifted to a motivation or source you find unable to sustain your joy. Simply take a moment to ask God to help reconnect Him as your source of joy and therefore your reward and motivation. He has been waiting to do so. Remember this; it’s not what we see that brings us joy but what we believe.
