The 23rd Psalm is probably one of the most quoted texts in the Bible. It begins with the statement, “The Lord is my shepherd” and ends with “I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”
So it begins and ends with “The Lord.” Implicit in both statements is the idea of satisfaction. David found satisfaction in “The Lord” to the end he was contented; wanting nothing and moved to “live in the house of the Lord forever.”
So how do we come to this same level of satisfaction with our Lord? He is the same Lord that David had.
1. Get satisfied with His Book.
It gives light, life and love.
Psalm 119:105 – Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
1 Peter 1:23 – For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.
1 John 4:16 – We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
2. Get satisfied with His Blood.
Ephesians 2:13 – But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.
3. Get satisfied with His Blessing.
Ephesians 1:3 – All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
4. Get satisfied with what He is Building.
1 Peter 2:5 – And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.
