Judges 13:4 – So be careful; you must not drink wine or any other alcoholic drink nor eat any forbidden food.

In Judges 13:4, the Spirit of God gives us a very valuable life lesson. He has just told Samson’s mother that “even though” she’s been infertile she would soon conceive and have a son. With this glorious information was an instruction by the Spirit of God to “be careful.”

The care she was to take was to “not drink wine or any other alcoholic drink nor eat any forbidden food.” It is interesting that the Spirit of God warns her of the danger of some outside things and that she was not to allow them on the inside.

Keep that which should be kept outside on the outside and that which God has placed inside will come to maturity.

Are outside things, thoughts, feelings, emotions, relationships negatively impacting the growth of God’s investment in you?

Take a moment to take that question to God and allow Him to answer it for you. Simply and immediately obey what He tells you.

Amen, this is a good word. I know I have negative thoughts sometimes that I must not allow to take root. Whatever we put into ourselves is going to create a seed. If we water that seed and allow the seed of negativity to take root, then it’s going to come out of us and negatively affect other people.

Jesus tells us we are the “light of the world.” So, we can either cast a shadow on the people we come into contact with or we can let the Glory of God sine in us for others to see. It’s our choice.

Keeping the outside things outside is a Valuable Life Lesson, we can compare it to when a seal in a submarine allows for water to get inside the vessel; it is said that the seal lost it’s integrity. Romans 8:18
