Show Teach and Lead Me

The difficulty in believing God for His intervention in any area of our lives can be the waiting. The Bible assures us of the advantage of waiting.

Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

Somehow we want to bypass the waiting part and go right to renewal, mounting up, running without weariness, etc. Yet the text opens with “those who wait.” It is not easy to get around that.

Psalm 25:4-5 [Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. 5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day] is instructive for those who are waiting “on the Lord.”

It identifies three things that are life lessons we learn while waiting:

1. We learn the ways of the Lord.

“Show me Your ways.”

• There is a distinct difference in our ways and His; the goal is to close the gap.

Isaiah 55:7-9 – Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

2. We learn the path of the Lord.

“Teach me Your path.”

• The path of the Lord is a lifestyle that one must be taught.

Psalm 16:11 – You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

3. We learn to follow Truth.

“Lead me in Your truth…”

• We find truth when we find His Word; the only thing left to do is to follow it.

John 17:17 – Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

My friend, while you wait on the Lord there is much to occupy your heart and mind. Allow the Spirit of God to “show, teach and lead” you into His “Ways, Paths and Truth.”

Peace and Blessings!

MOST OFTEN WHEN WE ARE WAITING FOR THINGS ( BUS, AIRPLANE, AN APPOINTMENT) WE FEEL THAT WE NEED SOMETHING TO DO. PEOPLE GENERALLY READ, DO CROSSWORD PUZZLES PLAY GAMES ON THEIR PHONE ETC. WAITING IS SOMETIMES A VERY DIFFICULT TASK IN THIS VERY INSTANT GENERATION. I LOVE THIS BECAUSE GOD IS TELLING US WHAT TO DO WHILE WE ARE WAITING ON HIM.
SOMETHING THAT PASTOR TRIMBLE TAUGHT SEVERAL YEARS AGO THAT HAS BEEN HELPFUL FOR ME IS:
    W: WORSHIP
    A: ATTEND
    I: INTERCEDE
    T: TRUST

One of the fruits of the Spirit is long suffering. How many times and how long does the Lord patiently wait on us to keep His commands and do His will? In my life, probably many times because I am not perfect. However, we expect the Lord to answer our prayers right away. As PT indicates, the Lord doesn’t work like that or bend to our ways.
While waiting for the Lord there is a lot we can learn, and later use as a testimony to help other people. Waiting increases our faith, and without it, it’s impossible to please Him.

  3. Our suffering is nothing compared to the suffering of Christ. I always look forward to the promises of God becaused He always delivers. I will continue to read, meditate, and pray in the meantime to learn more of His ways and His truths. Showing up to church and bible study on a regular basis ensures that I will be taught more of His ways consistently.

Waiting on the LORD and HIS PROMISES is marvelous, wonderful, and exciting. Even though it don’t appear that way when you’re going through, but the scripture says they that wait on the LORD shall renew their strengthen, they shall mount up with wings of eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.
Jesus told His apostles whom He had chosen to wait for the promise of the Father…….. that many days from now you will receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you. They waited and were filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will SHOW you things to come, TEACHES you all about Jesus, and will GUIDE you into all truth.
