Ezekiel 37:11-14 – Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!’ 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13 Then you shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. 14 I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken it and performed it,” says the LORD.’”
In Ezekiel 37:11-14, God reveals the purpose of the vision He’s given to Ezekiel. He says, in essence, “I’m bringing Israel out of the grave they are in; out of their lost hope; out of the feeling of being cutoff; out of being stuck where they are.”
God goes on to say, “When I’ve done that then you shall know that I am the Lord.” Isn’t it amazing that God’s motivation for rescuing Israel was so they would know He is the Lord?
God extends Himself to us in ways we can understand; not just what He has done but He wants us to know who He is. Yet we often get stuck where we are and even refusing to come out of the grave of hopelessness and alienation we are in.
There is a sense in which some get accustom to the pain or problem and are uncomfortable with releasing or moving beyond it. For some, the fear of forward movement looms larger than their present discomfort.
The story is told of the grandfather who would sit on his front porch rocking in his chair accompanied by his hound dog who would howl excessively while sitting there.
The grandson said to his grandfather, “Why does your dog howl continually while sitting next to you. He sounds like he’s in pain.” The grandfather replied, “He is in pain. He is sitting on a nail” The boy asked, “Why doesn’t he just move?” The grandfather replied, “It doesn’t hurt bad enough.”
My friend, God has provided a way out of whatever challenge the enemy has set before you. Determine to come out; refuse to stay!
Peace and blessing!
