One Out Of Ten

Luke 17:15-16And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

Just imagine the walk away from Jesus after He told you to go show yourself to the priest. Think about the moment you discovered that your struggle with this dreaded disease is over. All the years, months, weeks of daily torment, horrific circumstances and threat of death. The isolation, humiliation and depredation; it’s all over.

I don’t know that we are able to imagine that level of relief. The issue in your life, that had only one ending, has been intercepted by divine authority or has been ordered to cease and desist. What had you captive has been ordered to release you and let you go. There are family members who you can now enjoy the company of, friends you haven’t been able to see, a community that you can now rejoin and contribution you can again begin to make.

It’s over; what an amazing life-changing, paradigm shifting moment!

It would seem that everyone experiencing that level of benevolence would be much, much more than grateful and anxious to express their gratitude with outpourings of thanksgiving. But only ONE out of ten returned to praise and thank God for all He had done that day; only one.

The lesson is simple, BE THE ONE. There are many ways in which God blesses us daily. Are you the one who after you discover you have been blessed return to give thanks?

When you wake up, even before getting out of bed, contemplate His blessings in your life and express your gratitude to Him. And as you lie down at the end of the day, reflect on your day and find something for which you can give Him thanks. I am sure there are many. BE THE ONE!

Peace and blessings!

  1. Sometimes when we are blessed we get so excited that we just take it like it’s a baton and run with it. No matter how big or small the blessing is, we must first show gratitude.

    Thank you Pastor Trimble!
    Thank you Jesus!
    Thank you God!

We are in an age of “want”. Everyone always wants more, but are never grateful for the blessings we already have. I don’t let a day pass without expressing my gratefulness and thanksgiving to our Lord and savior. He is the great provider and should receive our thanks everyday.

  3. I am grateful and thank God daily in prayers & when I’m driving on the highways & byways. He blessed with so much just because He loves me with that everlasting agapelove. Thank God for the big things and the small things.

  4. I do begin each day, before I get out of bed, thanking the Lord that He has blessed me with another day, and for keeping me in my right mind. That I’m mindful and grateful for what He has done and continues to do in my life. I’m truly Grateful that He’s given me a mind and heart to want to serve Him and not myself.

I take nothing for granted. I praise our Father all the day long and late into the midnight …EVERYDAY! “No sucha thang, no such a thang”…is TOO OFTEN or TOO MUCH!!! ALL the GLORY belongs to HIM!
