Five (5) Observations When Riding Out A Storm

When riding out a storm there are some things we can be mindful of that will aid us in the process.

The Bible says in Ephesians 6:12-14, “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.”

God will do what we cannot do but we must do what we can do. Consider the following things we can do in a stormy situation:

1. Shield yourself against the typhoon-like winds with your daily confession of His Word concerning you.

Psalm 34:7 For the angel of the LORD is a guard; He surrounds and defends all who fear him.

Psalm 41:2The LORD protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity in the land and rescues them from their enemies.

Psalm 91:4He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

Psalm 125:2Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, both now and forever.

Exodus 14:14The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.

2. Strengthen yourself in your God.

I Samuel 30:6And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.

Psalm 27:9Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me, O God of my salvation!

Psalm 40:17As for me, since I am poor and needy, let the Lord keep me in his thoughts. You are my helper and my savior. O my God, do not delay.

Psalm 50:9But I do not need the bulls from your barns or the goats from your pens.

Psalm 56:9My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help. This I know: God is on my side!

3. Show your momentum.

Exodus 14:13But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again.”

Numbers 9:8 Moses answered, “Wait here until I have received instructions for you from the LORD.”

Psalm 46:10“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”

Psalm 37:7Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

4. Rid yourself of weights and encumbrances.

Hebrews 12:1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

5. Ride through on what you have.

Acts 27:43-44But the commanding officer wanted to spare Paul, so he didn’t let them carry out their plan. Then he ordered all who could swim to jump overboard first and make for land. 44 The others held on to planks or debris from the broken ship. So everyone escaped safely to shore.

Peace and blessings!

    Amen PT!
In a literal storm, people put on more than they need and often get weighted down. As the Word indicates, all we need is God’s armor to shield us from the storm. His armor is light, and is all we need to fight the storm.
Thank you Lord and PT for putting this together today.

It’s so comforting to know that God is with us in a storm and protects us always. We are not alone, but we must be obedient and do what we can. I’m so glad these 5 things can help us get through a storm because when we’re in it we may get distracted will need this kind of guidance to keep us on track. Thank you PT!
