In any war, winning requires a strategy. We must understand what our end goal is and how we will arrive at it. It is also helpful to know who our enemies are and what weapons will be most successful in defeating them.
Consider the following observations about our battle strategy:
1. Our battle is fought primarily in the Spirit.
II Corinthians 10:3-5 – For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
a. We do not fight for social status, acceptance or approval.
b. We do not fight for earthly possessions or positions.
c. We do not make social comparisons or compete with others.
d. The carnal war brings discouragement and burn-out.
2. We war in the Spirit with spiritual weapons.
II Corinthians 10:4 – For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.
a. We fight with faith.
b. We fight with the Word of God.
c. We fight with vision.
d. We fight with prayer.
e. We fight with boldness.
f. We fight with love.
3. We fight for excellence in our walk with God and in every detail of our lives.
a. Everything God is and does is excellent.
• His Name and Character
• His Work
• His Creation
• His Salvation
• His Eternal Love
Psalm 8:1 – O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens!
Psalm 150:2 – Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
b. We are to imitate our Father.
Ephesians 5:1 – Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
My friend, fight for excellence and reflect on the One to Whom you belong.
Peace and blessings!
