What we are seeing all over the world is a spiritual warfare; a battle for and against justice. God will always be on the side of that which is just. Dr. King once said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
Spiritual warfare is taking place every day of our lives. That’s why I Peter 5:8-11 admonish us to, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
Believers must be sober and vigilant; Satan uses evil as a weapon to devour people. Obvious evils are easy to defeat but the more subtle evils are destructive. God wants us to be like Daniel in Daniel 5:12 [Inasmuch as an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, now let Daniel be called, and he will give the interpretation].
We must become people who are discerning and able to interpret our environment in a way that pleases God and informs others. People worldwide are looking for answers to the tough questions we face today.
For the believer, spiritual warfare must become:
1. A way of living.
II Timothy 4:7 – I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
2. A way of thinking.
II Corinthians 10:5 – Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…
3. A way of speaking.
Mark 11:23-24 – For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
4. A way of believing.
I Timothy 6:12 – Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
5. A way of praying.
Matthew 18:18 – Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
So then, spiritual warfare is a reality of life. Ephesians 6:16-18 speaks of how we should dress for this battle:
• Truth is our thinking and standard.
• Righteousness is our position in Christ and our lifestyle.
• Peace results from spreading the good news of Christ’s work to enable others to join God’s family.
• Faith is believing all things are possible.
• Salvation is having a relationship with God through Christ and passing it on to others.
• The Word of God is what we speak daily.
• Prayer is what we do without ceasing.
Fight, my friend, and never give in because what we know is what will win in the end!
Peace and blessings!
