Manna For Today: Wednesday, December 16, 2015
What I think determines what I believe. What I believe determines what I say. What I say determines what I receive. What I receive determines the quality of my life.
Consider the following observations for ensuring a thought-life that will produce the results we desire:
1. Take responsibility for what you allow yourself to think.
Proverbs 4:23 – Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
2. Know that what you allow in will get out.
Luke 6:45 – A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
3. Actively reject thoughts from the enemy.
II Corinthians 10:5 – Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
4. Practice and develop a focus on the presence of God.
Psalm 101:3 – I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.
5. Develop a ‘whatever’ strategy.
Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
6. Become a student of peace.
Isaiah 26:3 – You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
7. Learn to fight the right battles.
II Corinthians 10:3-6 – For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
8. Walk in what God has given you.
II Timothy 1:7 – For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
9. Choose faith and stand steadfast!
James 1:5-8 – If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
10. Think like Jesus!
Philippians 2:5 – Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.
Peace and blessings!
