Manna For Today: Monday, January 4, 2016
The importance of goal-setting cannot be overemphasized. Equally important is including God in establishing your goals.
Asking the following questions will aid you in ensuring God is involved in your goal development and achievement:
1. Will this goal honor God?
I Corinthians 10:31 – So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Remember: Everything can be done for God’s glory! Our motivation is critical.
II Corinthians 5:9 – So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please Him.
2. Is the goal motivated by love?
Eliminate greed, ego, competition, guilt, envy, materialism and anything else that may try to exalt itself above the knowledge of God.
I Corinthians 16:14 – And do everything with love.
3. Will this goal require depending on God?
Proverbs 16:9 – We can make our plans but the Lord determines our steps.
Remember that to move forward successfully you need:
- God’s Spirit to empower you.
Zechariah 4:6 – Then he said to me, “This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
- God’s Word to guide you.
Joshua 1:8 – Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
- God’s people to support you.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 – A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
He’s there right now; talk to Him about where He wants you to be and what He wants you to do with your life.
Peace and blessings!
