James 1:22-25 – Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
In the text above, God gives us specific instructions for being blessed in all we do. The overarching principle is to develop both our listening and seeing skills resulting in being a doer of the Word and not just a hearer only.
God’s instructions offer detail as to how we are to carry out our listening and looking assignments.
1. Look intently.
• Look strategically; look with purpose and with expectation.
2. Look continuously.
• Daily looking into the Word of God.
3. Remember what you’ve seen!
• Don’t forget what God says about you and others.
4. Live what you see in the Word.
• Do what you see and hear!
God promises us if we will do these four things, we will be blessed in what we do.
My friend, look intently at these four areas and ask God to help you integrate them into your life to the end you are transformed!
II Corinthians 3:18 – But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Peace and blessings!
