Manna For Today: Thursday, October 27, 2016
Today, find every opportunity to be S.E.L.F.L.E.S.S.
Philippians 2:4 – Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
John 15:12-14 – This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
1. Be Servant-minded.
Romans 12:11 – … not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.
Colossians 3:23 – And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.
2. Explore the ways in which you can be a blessing to someone.
Matthew 25:35-40 – For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
3. Let go of the past hurts or offenses that may prevent you from reaching out to others.
Ephesians 4:31-32 – Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
Isaiah 43:18-19 – “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
4. Find someone to be a blessing to.
Matthew 5:42 – Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.
Galatians 6:2 – Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
5. Listen intently to people who are around you.
Proverbs 2:2 – So that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding.
Proverbs 18:13 – He who answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame to him.
6. Expect to be a blessing to others.
Mark Batterson – “When God blesses you financially, don’t raise your standard of living. Raise your standard of giving.”
Proverbs 11:25-26 – The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself. The people will curse him who withholds grain, but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it.
II Corinthians 9:8-11 – And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written: “He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.” Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.
7. Serve passionately.
John Wesley – “Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.”
Hebrews 6:10 – For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
I Samuel 12:24 – Only fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.
8. Spread the good news; the world needs to hear it.
Matthew 28:19-20 – “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Psalm 96:3 – Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.
Peace and blessings!
